Research Questions

Often intrigued by the “spaces between” I was attracted to the optical illusion created by the central lights on the ceiling in the Thacher Gallery. The Thacher Gallery is housed inside the Gleeson Library at the University of San Francisco. When the library was first built, these lights stood above the paper card catalogs. Research Questions references this history while exploring and questioning the space. The rim of each of the five lights is lined with a loop of questions – who is the ceiling?, what is the ceiling?, when is the ceiling?, why is the ceiling?, where is the ceiling?
